Kaveri River, Talakad, Karnataka, India
The Cauvery river has been the root of many disputes between the two states it flows through; Karnataka where it begins and Tamil Nadu where it ends, flowing into the Bay of Bengal. As the mighty river courses its way, here in Talakadu, the river looks bountiful. Talakadu is a pilgrimiage town, with ancient temples buried in the sand, a curse from a spurned queen that came true. It is also a spot for a day picnic, the cool waters caressing a sandy beach and many oarsmen offering to take you for a spin on the mighty river. This view captured me for in that moment of spinning in a boat, with the blue skies and water I almost forgot the real need of this river for survival and could only enjoy the recreational serenity it brought me.
